We live in Washington D.C. and have been here for the past 5 years.  Chrissy is 34 years old and grew up in northern Virginia.  Amy is 36 years old and grew up in northern New Jersey.  Together, our family includes 3 pets—one dog and two cats—Cedar, William and Ned.  We love our pets and treat them as if they were our children!  All of them get along together really well and they spend most of their time sleeping and eating.

Our relationship is built on a solid foundation and we share a lot of things in common.  For instance, when we met, we discovered that we had several interesting and strange connections that make us think that we are meant to be together. Amy’s apartment in St. Louis was on the very same block that Chrissy grew up on. This may not sound strange, but St. Louis is a fairly large city, and the street is nowhere near the university we both attended. We also soon came to realize that our immediate families shared some of the same unique traditions. For example, as children both Chrissy and I had fondue for Halloween, special family occasions included making homemade ice cream, and both of our families have a love of eating artichokes.

Chrissy about Amy:I consider Amy to be my best friend.  I think friendship is the basic building block of any good marriage/partnership.  We love to laugh together, and we enjoy the same activities.  Amy and I complement each other very well.  Amy is thoughtful, warm and sensitive.  She is the one who really mulls things over and makes very well-thought out decisions.  I tend to be more of one who likes to try new things, and is adventurous.  I like to challenge us and get us to try things in a different way.”

Amy about Chrissy:Chrissy is an incredibly dynamic woman.  She is compassionate, intelligent, fiercely loyal, nurturing, silly and very much so an extrovert.  She is light-hearted and easy-going and she never allows me to take myself too seriously.  We ground each other, support one another and have grown together.  I think we have become better individuals as a result of our relationship.
